Afternoon Tea, Cocktails and Dining

A mosaic floor runs from the Albemarle Street entrance through to the reception area and on to the Dover Street entrance. This unifies the space and sets the tone for a fresher, brighter, less cluttered ground floor. The original wood panelling has been lightened and the heavy curtains and patterned carpets have gone. The whole ground floor has a more contemporary look whilst retaining its quintessentially English feel and the comfort associated with Brown’s.

The English Tea Room offers a relaxing and discreet setting for the hotel’s famous Afternoon Tea and light meals. Our new restaurant, The Grill, offers a delicate balance of English fare and Continental cuisine, including a daily roast from the carving trolley. The decor has been enhanced with moss green leather banquette seating, cream linen Roman blinds and 1930s Italian lights. The Donovan Bar has been enlarged to encompass the old Library area. Here the panelling has been painted and a leather bar and bronze lights added. Iconic photographic prints from Terence Donovan adorn the walls, creating a contemporary and welcoming atmosphere in which to sample the hotel’s signature cocktail,” The Box Brownie”, in addition to an extensive selection of other drinks and champagnes by the glass.
